Noah Kayafas, an undergraduate majoring in Sustainable Plant Systems with a specialization in Plant Bioscience, received one of 15 awards from the Center for Applied Plant Science for summer research in 2020. The iCAPS (internships in CAPS) funding will provide funding for Noah to continue conducting his research on studying Mexican landraces of maize and analyzing their aerial roots for the production of mucilage. He is interested in seeing how these Mexican landraces may use the mucilage to host nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Congratulations Noah!
